Semer de Mars à Avril à l’intérieur puis en pleine terre après les risques de gelée écartés OU directement en place en pleine terre courant Mai.

Il est utile de prévoir des arrosages copieux, y compris les feuilles, lors des fortes chaleurs.

Récolte

Récolter avant la floraison et de préférence le matin pour garder plus de parfum. On l'utilise en cuisine et en décoration.

Le basilic, cultivé près des tomates, protège ces-dernières des nématodes.

Description

A small leafed variety of basil that has a lemon scented aroma.

Sowing instructions

Best grown indoors by a kitchen window or in a greenhouse, sow from March to April. Can also be sown directly outside, but best in pots which can be moved inside if late frosts arrive. Sow the in pots outside from May.

Growing technique

Keep well watered and keep clear of weeds. If it becomes very hot and dry water copiously to stop the leaves from wilting.

Harvesting

Harvest from the June through to October, best to pick in the mornings which allows the aroma to linger longer. Do not allow the plant to flower or it will go to seed.
