Le buis est un arbuste/arbre à feuillage persistant. Les petites feuilles d’un vert moyen et les fleurs sont d’un jaune pâle, suivi de fruits vert/marron.  Le buis est un des bois plus dense que l’eau. Très connu pour les parterres et topiaires, le buis est aussi le bois de choix pour les pièces d’échecs.

Buxus plants can be evergreen shrubs or small trees, with simple, leathery, opposite leaves and clusters of small, pale yellow flowers followed by pale green to brown fruits. Box wood is quite unusual in the fact that it is one of the few woods that are denser than water. Other than for use as making knot gardens and topiary Buxus is also used to make chess pieces.
