Description Variétale

Racine longue, cylindrique, parfaitement adaptée à la production hâtive de pleine terre. Convient également à la culture sous abri pour l’automne.

Semis

Semer en sol léger, en lignes espacées de 25 à 30 cm.

Opérations en culture

L’arrosage doit être léger, mais très régulier pendant la germination et durant la culture. Effectuer le 1er éclaircissage à 2-3 feuilles, puis le second 10 jours après. Laisser 3 à 4 cm entre chaque plant. Biner et arroser régulièrement.

Récolte

Récolter 4 mois après le semis, au fur et à mesure des besoins. Pour la conservation hivernale, mettre en cave ou dans du sable sec.

Astuces

La carotte éloigne le ver du poireau. Le romarin, l'oignon et le poireau, cultivés près de la carotte, éloignent quant à eux la mouche de la carotte.

Quiche aux carottes

Description

Very fast growing good quality carrot that is ideal for starting of in the greenhouse or undercover early in the season. Also stores well.

Sowing instructions

Sow from February to March undercover or from April to July without cover. Sow in well prepared fine soil which is free of stones. Mix sand with the soil to help with drainage. Sow in straight lines with 20cms between plants.

Growing technique

Keep well watered when the carrot is establishing itself, once fully established reduce the amount of water you give the plant to force the root to grow longer in search of water deeper in the ground. Keep clear of weeds.

Harvesting

Harvest 4 months after germination, best done with a fork so as not to damage the root. Good for storing in a dark dry place.
