Description Variétale

Variété rustique et peu sensible à la mouche de la carotte. Racine longue et cylindrique.

Semis

Semer de Février à Avril sous abri, puis, jusqu’en Juillet en pleine terre. Dans un sol finement préparé et sans cailloux, semer en ligne avec un peu de sable pour éviter un semis trop dense.

Opérations en culture

Eclaircir légèrement si besoin et arroser régulièrement. Lorsque les racines sont bien formées, réduire l’arrosage, ce qui permettra aux carottes de s’allonger pour chercher l’eau en profondeur.

Récolte

Récolter d’Avril à Octobre en fonction de la date de semis.

Astuces

La carotte éloigne le ver du poireau. Le romarin, l'oignon et le poireau, cultivés près de la carotte, éloignent quant à eux la mouche de la carotte.

Description

Good hardy variety of carrot that has been bred to resist the carrot fly. Very regular long cylindrical roots.

Sowing instructions

Sow from February to April under tunnels or from May without protection. Sow in well prepared fine soil which is free of stones. Mix sand with the soil to help with drainage. Sow in straight lines but leave enough room for each carrot to have enough space to grow.

Growing technique

Keep well watered when the carrot is establishing itself, once fully established reduce the amount of water you give the plant to force the root to grow longer in search of water deeper in the ground. Keep clear of weeds.

Harvesting

Harvest 2-3 months after germination.

Companion plant with leeks, rosemary and spring onions
