Cet arbuste d’origine d’Amérique du sud peut être cultivé en serre chauffée ou bien en véranda. A feuillage persistant et vert argente, la plante a des fleurs comestibles en blanches et roses – avec un gout fort d’ananas.  Superbe en salade.  En temps favorable, la plante peut produire des fruits.

Feijoa sellowiana is an evergreen frost tender shrub (tree in its native habitat) with very thick grey-green leaves. Best grown in a conservatory (origin Brazil). The most interesting aspect of this plant though, is the beautiful edible white flowers that are striped with pink topped with bright red star-burst stamens. The edible fleshy petals have an interesting pineapple like taste and can be used to brighten up salads in the summer. If good care is taken, edible fruit can be produced in a decent hot summer, but a lot of luck is needed!
