Description Variétale

Fruit orange vif, de 1 à 2 kg, sphérique avec un col. Sa chair est fine et ferme, sucrée avec un goût de châtaigne. Riche en provitamines A et en oligo-éléments.

Semis

Semer En Mars/Avril 3 à 4 graines en godet sous abri. Ne conserver qu’une plante par godet. OU 2. De fin Avril à Juin en poquet de 3 à 4 graines à 2 cm de profondeur.

Opérations en culture

Repiquer en place en Mai à 1,50 m en tous sens. Arroser fréquemment, pailler pour garder le sol humide. Tailler les branches pour ne garder que quelques fruits, suivant la grosseur désirée.

Récolte

Récolter en automne quand les fruits sont bien mûrs afin d’avoir une bonne conservation durant l’hiver.

Astuces

Préférer des fruits de 1 à 2 kg, et de diamètre d’environ 15 à 20 cm. Vous obtiendrez ainsi toutes les qualités nutritives.

Cake au potimarron

Description

These medium sized pumpkins are quite strange looking yet are very popular in France, especially in tarts and also in soups. The bright orange vegetable can grow in size to about 1-2kgs in weight and taste a little like chestnut. This vegetable is very high in Vitamin A .

Sowing instructions

Sow in pots from March or directly in open ground from May. Sow the seed about 2cm in depth but give enough space for the plant to grow, about 1.5 meters in diameter.

Growing technique

 Water and weed regularly place some mulch or straw around the base of the plant to keep moisture in and then straw up growing fruit to prevent it from rotting.

Harvesting

Start harvesting between 6 and 7 months after planting these can be stored very easily over winter.

Other Advice

It is easy to know when the pumpkins are ready to be pick. Just measure the circumference and when they reach 15-20cm in diameter they are ready to be picked and stored
