Rosier Alan Titchmarsh

Un très beau rosier typiquement Rose Ancienne, qui ressemble à une gravure de Redoute "La Rose du Bengale".

Les fleurs démarrent en boutons arrondis qui s'ouvrent progressivement en dévoilant un centre très riche en pétales tout en conservant une forme ronde - les pétales s'incurvent avec le plus bel effet. Leur couleur est d'un agréable ton rose profond. Elles ont un délicieux parfum doux et chaud de Rose Ancienne.

C'est une variété très vigoureuse et saine avec des tiges légèrement courbées, ce qui, à maturité, produit un arbuste arrondi très attrayant, qui ressemble un peu au rosier "Golden Celebration". S'il est taillé avec modération, il poussera assez haut et sera idéal pour un fond de massif. S'il est taillé plus fort, il sera d'une hauteur moyenne et pourra ainsi être placé à l'avant d'un massif. Tout laisse à penser que ce rosier sera parmi nos meilleures variétés.

Rosa Alan Titchmarsh

A beautiful rose of true Old Rose character which might, in-fact, be compared to one of Redoute’s prints ‘Rose du Bengale’.

The flowers start as rounded buds and gradually open to reveal a many-petalled centre, while at the same time retaining their rounded shape – the petals incurving in the most attractive manner. Their colour is a pleasing shade of deep pink. They have a delicious, soft and warm Old Rose fragrance.

This is a particularly tough and healthy variety with slightly arching stems which, at maturity, forms an attractive, rounded shrub rather like ‘Golden Celebration’. If pruned lightly, it will grow quite tall and be suitable for the back of a border. Pruned harder it will be of medium height and so could be placed closer to the front of the border. All the signs are that this rose will become one of our leading varieties.

David Austin named this rose after Alan Titchmarsh, the well known television horticulturist, who has been an inspiration to gardeners over many years.

Available from April through to October. Some varieties do sell out due to popularity.
